We are seeking a dynamic, creative, and commercially driven Retail Product Director to lead the retail product strategy for our luxury hotel and resort portfolio in Vietnam. This senior leadership role is responsible for curating, developing, and optimizing a profitable range of retail products — including hotel-branded merchandise, resort lifestyle collections, local artisan collaborations, and premium souvenirs — that enhance guest experience while driving significant non-room revenue.
As Retail Product Director, you will combine strong merchandising expertise, product development skills, and retail operations leadership to build a best-in-class retail program aligned with the hotel’s luxury brand positioning.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Development

Lead end-to-end product development: research, design briefing, sourcing, sampling, and launch of new retail collections.
Curate compelling product assortments that reflect the destination, hotel brand DNA, and guest preferences.
Develop private label and co-branded merchandise lines with local Vietnamese artisans, designers, and suppliers.

Merchandising & Assortment Planning

Create seasonal and year-round product strategies to maximize sales across hotel boutiques, resort shops, and online channels.
Analyze sales data, guest feedback, and market trends to optimize product mix, pricing, and inventory levels.
Manage product lifecycle from concept to discontinuation.

Sourcing & Vendor Management

Build and maintain a strong network of local and international suppliers, manufacturers, and artisans.
Negotiate contracts, ensure quality standards, and maintain ethical & sustainable sourcing practices.
Manage product costing, margins, and profitability targets.

Retail Operations & Revenue Growth

Oversee retail store operations, visual merchandising, and in-hotel boutique performance.
Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, and Guest Experience teams to create integrated retail campaigns and guest shopping experiences.
Drive revenue targets through upselling programs, gift packaging, and cross-departmental initiatives.

Team Leadership & Compliance

Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing retail team (buyers, merchandisers, store managers).
Ensure full compliance with import/export regulations, customs documentation, inventory controls, and tax requirements in Vietnam.
Monitor document verification for all retail suppliers, product certifications, and quality assurance records.

Performance Management

Set KPIs, track retail P&L, and deliver regular performance reports to senior management.
Implement inventory management systems and loss prevention protocols.

Requirements & Qualifications
Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Fashion Merchandising, Retail Management, Product Development, or related field. MBA is a plus.

Experience

8–12+ years in retail product development or merchandising, with at least 4–6 years in a Director-level or senior managerial role.
Proven experience in luxury hospitality retail, resort retail, or lifestyle brands is highly desirable.
Strong track record in launching successful product lines and achieving revenue targets.

Technical & Language Skills

Deep knowledge of product development, sourcing, and supply chain management.
Experience with retail ERP / inventory management systems.
Excellent command of English (spoken and written). Vietnamese proficiency is a strong advantage.
Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel for assortment planning and margin analysis.

Leadership Profile

Creative with strong commercial acumen and data-driven decision making.
Excellent negotiation, vendor management, and project management skills.
