We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior API Engineer to design, develop, and optimize robust APIs that power the digital ecosystem of our new luxury hotel and resort. This senior technical role is critical during the pre-opening phase, enabling seamless integration between core systems such as Property Management System (PMS – Opera or similar), Magento 2 e-commerce, booking engine, mobile applications, CRM, payment gateways, and third-party services.
As Senior API Engineer, you will work closely with the Senior Delivery Manager, Frontend Developers, Magento Developers, DevOps Engineer, Database Administrator, and Security Solution Architect to build secure, scalable, and high-performance APIs that drive direct bookings, guest experiences, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
API Design & Development

Design and implement RESTful APIs and GraphQL services for hotel operations, room inventory, reservations, guest profiles, and retail e-commerce.
Develop secure, scalable, and well-documented APIs for internal and external consumption.
Build integration layers between PMS, Magento 2, booking engines, payment systems, and mobile applications.

Performance & Scalability

Optimize API performance, latency, caching, and rate limiting to handle high traffic during grand opening and peak seasons.
Implement API gateway solutions, versioning, and monitoring.

Security & Compliance

Apply security best practices including authentication (OAuth2, JWT), authorization, encryption, and API security standards.
Ensure PCI DSS compliance for payment-related APIs and support Zero Trust architecture principles.
Participate in document verification, security audits, and compliance reviews for all API integrations.

Collaboration & Integration

Work with frontend, mobile, and DevOps teams to deliver end-to-end features.
Support data synchronization, real-time updates (WebSocket), and event-driven architectures.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex integration issues.

Documentation & Governance

Create and maintain comprehensive API documentation (Swagger/OpenAPI).
Establish API governance standards, best practices, and CI/CD integration.

Requirements & Qualifications
Education

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.

Experience

6–11+ years of backend/API development experience.
Proven track record building and maintaining high-traffic APIs in hospitality, e-commerce, or fintech environments.

Technical Skills

Strong expertise in Node.js, PHP (Laravel/Symfony), Java (Spring Boot), or Python.
Deep experience with REST APIs, GraphQL, and API gateways (e.g., AWS API Gateway, Kong).
Proficiency in microservices architecture, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS cloud services.
Solid knowledge of databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL/Aurora), caching (Redis), and messaging systems.
Experience with Magento 2 API, Opera PMS integration, or hospitality systems is a strong advantage.
Familiarity with CI/CD, Terraform, and monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus).

Language & Soft Skills

Excellent command of English (spoken and written). Vietnamese is a strong advantage.
Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and collaboration skills.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced pre-opening environment.
