We are seeking a precise, diligent, and tech-savvy Virtual / Remote Legal Volunteer to provide essential support for our legal team from any location. In this role, you will handle critical behind-the-scenes tasks such as document review, legal research, and translation, ensuring that our attorneys have the information and documentation they need to succeed in their casework. If you possess a keen eye for detail, strong research skills, a commitment to social justice, and the ability to manage tasks independently, this is an ideal role for contributing your professional skills to our mission on a flexible, remote basis.

Key Responsibilities
Document Review: Assist in the review and analysis of discovery materials, evidence, and client records, identifying key information and summarizing findings for legal staff.

Legal Research: Conduct targeted research on statutes, case law, and procedural rules to support ongoing litigation, policy advocacy, or direct service cases.

Translation & Localization: Provide accurate, culturally sensitive translations of legal documents, outreach materials, and client communications to ensure our services remain accessible to non-English-speaking community members.

Drafting & Proofreading: Assist with the preparation and editing of legal correspondence, briefs, and educational materials, ensuring professional quality and accuracy.

Data Management: Help organize and maintain secure digital case files, ensuring that documents are properly indexed and easily accessible to authorized staff.

Virtual Coordination: Participate in regular remote meetings with legal staff to provide status updates, clarify project requirements, and align on case priorities.

Requirements & Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, Linguistics, or related field; current law students (all years) or paralegal students are highly encouraged to apply.

Experience: Previous experience in legal research, translation, or document review is highly preferred; proficiency in a second language is a significant asset.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in remote collaboration tools (e.g., Slack, Zoom, Google Workspace, Microsoft Teams).

Strong aptitude for online legal research platforms and secure document management systems.

Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining strict confidentiality and data security protocols.
